I’m Martin, a photographer based in Estonia. For years I thought photography was too expensive to get into. When I finally took the leap, it turned out to be far more accessible than I expected, and I haven’t looked back.
It fits perfectly with my love for hiking and camping. I don’t stick to one style or subject: if it’s visually appealing, I’m photographing it. The goal is simple, to make images that stay with people.

Why I photograph
Photography is how I unwind, and my favourite creative outlet. Out with the camera I slow down and notice more, and every picture teaches me something new. There’s no grand plan behind it: I just love doing it.

How I capture it
Mostly on foot, with a tent in the bag: trails, bogs and coastline. And from the air when a view is too big for the ground. I look for the angle nobody stands at: low in the moss, high above the trees, straight down.

What I believe in
The power of nature. It was here long before us and will be here long after. A storm over the sea, ice locking a bay, a forest growing back through a ruin: I want my pictures to carry some of that force, and my respect for it.

What draws me
Old, forgotten places, and the patterns nature makes. A manor slowly taken back by the forest, the veins of a frozen bog, rows of trees seen from above. Where people left and nature returned, there is always a story.

What I leave behind
Only footprints. I take pictures, not souvenirs, and leave every place as I found it, so the next person finds it just as quiet.
